Which one was Thrones?

(From The Big Bang Theory: there was a joke that Howard’s mom watched Games of Thrones and kept asking which one was Thrones.)
I guess because I was not as emotionally invested in the series as a whole, I’m not as bothered by the ending as some are. (I was more invested in certain characters then the whole, massive story.) Still, I absolutely agree that this last season was rushed and lacking. A big part of the problem is that this, the final season, was just too damn short. Too abbreviated. The ending would have played better, I suspect, if they had taken the extra time this season to let things develop, especially the turn in Daenerys’ character. This season is basically short 4 episodes. That’s a lot, and there doesn’t seem to be any reason for it. I read somewhere that HBO was fine with a full season, it was the showrunners who decided to cut back the season. So, what? Did the showrunners get bored or run out of ideas?
While I’m trying to be spoiler free here, I have to mention the very unsubtle symbolism of the episode. Namely, Daenerys entering in a shoot that made her appear to have leather wings of a fallen angel (it was the wings of her dragon behind her) and that she proceeded to give a rally at Nuremberg speech to the troops. Nope, not subtle at all.
What follows is my spoiler free opinions on how appropriate I thought the conclusions were for various character arcs. It’s just my personal opinions.
Tyrion Lannister - Dead on. I’m 100% behind this one. (Though, because he’s the only character I cared much about, I would have liked more, but this was good but this was realistically what I expected.)
Jaime Lannister - Pretty much what I expected. No issues with it really.
Cersei Lannister - Meh. I hoped for something more….spectacular for her personally.
Daenerys Targaryen - Yeah, kinda what I expected. With hindsight, you can see the foreshadowing through the seasons. However, this season should have done more to prepare the audience for it.
Jon Snow - considering his constant whoop’ed dog look and problems handling conflicts with love and duty, yup, it was apt.
Sansa Stark - yup, on target
Ayra Stark - oddly, this is the one I had some discomfort with. Parts of it felt right. Parts of it felt like a set-up for a spin off.
Bran Stark - sure, why not. Other than the many reason you could easily think of.
Davos Seaworth - yeah, I’ll agree with this.
Bronn - Sure, why not.
Brienne of Tarth - It’s as good as anything.
Varys - Nope. I get it, but nope
The Iron Throne - Best thing to happen to it.
As for the rest of the characters, I honestly don’t care.
Well, now the series is over. So now pop culture can go on to the next big thing and the nerds will continue to speculate what should have been and bug the heck out of George R. R. Martin to finish the books.
