Anime News Network is doing some pretty decent reporting on the Vic Mignogna story.  Right now, they have a banner story,The Mignogna Desposition.  They've reviewed about 1000 pages of documents and written articles to present what all parties have said - both Mignogna and his accusers. 

Particularly revealing is the section Fan Interactions and the Affidavits.  That's the part that I find pretty creepy and damning.   It also includes a section from the affidavit of his former finacee....and yeech!  According to her, he had "encounters" everywhere he went, including many with "sexual workers".  I would never stop scrubbing myself if I were her.

THAT THAT THAT literally every person on Earth remembers why they left every job they've ever had.

And the only people who are cadgy about it are people who ARE FIRED. Usually with cause.

It's not just boys, sadly. His fanbase have invested a lot of time and emotion in him, and we've all known people in fandom who do not know how to relate to others in any way other than as part of a fandom. So there's the sunk cost fallacy, and people who find the idea of not defending him emotionally impossible. Imagine Cubs fans without the sense of humor.

I would be interested in hearing about the people who have walked away.

Yeah, I get it. Fans get so emotional invested in someone that admitting that person has a problematic side becomes an attack on the fan's own self - getting the fandom and the self so twisted up. A criticism, whoever valid, of their "idol" becomes a personal attack on the fan him or herself.

I mention fanboys because I keep stumbling on these male fans online who are also of the "all allegations of sexual harassment are suspect because women lie about it". There are women like that too, but it's mostly males that I stumbling on.

I find this hilarious, since the last thing women need to do is fabricate sexual harassment stories. We get so much of it that it's like fabricating a story about that time we went to McDonalds.
